Holden Monaro V2 History

Holden Monaro V2 2001-2004

The V2 Monaro began life as the VT Coupe concept car first shown at the 1998 Sydney International Motor Show. Designed in secrecy by Mike Simcoe and his Holden Design team, GMH had no plans to put the Coupe into production but due to media pressure and interest from the public the new styled Holden Monaro was released in October 2001.

Originally it was available as the CV6, with a supercharged 3.8 litre engine and the CV8, fitted with the 5.7 litre GEN III V8 Chevy engine. The car was exported to the UK and sold as the Vauxhall Monaro and in the US it was sold as the Pontiac GTO.

In 2004 another concept car was built called the Holden Marilyn Concept, a convertible version of the Monaro. It never made it to production.
