Holden History

Holden Jackaroo

The Holden Jackaroo, a rebadged Isuzu Trooper/Big Horn started life in 1981. In 1992, the second generation model became available. It was sold with a 3.2 litre petrol engine and a 4 cylinder diesel engine.

In 1993, Holden commissioned HSV to build 85 Jackaroo HSV models. These were a cosmetic upgrade only.

1998 saw the introduction of the 3.5 litre V6 engine. Over it’s life, the Isuzu trooper has been re-badged and sold as an Acura SLX (USA), Chevrolet Trooper (Indonesia), Isuzu Bighorn, Holden Jackaroo (Australia), Holden Monterey (Australia), Honda Horizon (Japan), HSV Jackaroo (Australia), Opel Monterey (Germany), Subaru Bighorn and Vauxhall Monterey (UK).
