Armstrong Siddeley was a British engineering group that initially specialized in automobiles and aircraft engines, but later expanded into the manufacture of luxury vehicles.

One interesting fact is that the company was responsible for creating the first ever pre-selector gearbox, an innovation that allowed the driver to select the next gear in advance, with the actual gear change occurring automatically when the clutch pedal was depressed. This technology was later widely adopted in the automotive industry.

Armstrong Siddeley is also known for its distinctive sphinx logo, which it began using in 1912 after founder John Siddeley saw the fabled statue during a visit to Egypt.

The company's aircraft engines played a significant role in the development of British aviation, with its Jaguar, Cheetah and Lynx engines being used to power various aircraft operated by the Royal Air Force.

Later on, Armstrong Siddeley focused on building stately, luxurious cars that were favored by the British elite, including the royal family. These meticulously crafted vehicles featured premium materials, advanced engineering, and an understated elegance that exemplified the best of British automotive design in the early to mid-20th century.
