Chrysler, one of the "Big Three" American automobile manufacturers alongside General Motors and Ford, has a history dating back to the company's founding by Walter Chrysler in 1925.

Throughout the 20th century, Chrysler established itself as a major force in the U.S. automotive industry, producing iconic vehicles like the Chrysler Imperial luxury car, the sporty Dodge Viper, and the family-oriented Dodge Caravan minivan.

The company has also had a significant presence in motorsports, particularly in NASCAR racing. Chrysler engines powered many successful race cars, including the Chrysler 300 which dominated NASCAR in 1955 and 1956 with the legendary 331 cubic inch Chrysler FirePower Hemi engine. In drag racing, Chrysler's 426 Hemi engine was the powerplant of choice in the 1960s and 1970s.

Chrysler's performance and racing heritage was perhaps best exemplified by the Plymouth Superbird, a highly modified, aerodynamic version of the Plymouth Road Runner that was built specifically for NASCAR competition in 1970.

Although the company has gone through ownership changes over the years, being acquired by Daimler-Benz in 1998 and later by Fiat in 2014 to form Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Chrysler remains committed to producing distinctively American vehicles with signature styling and performance.
