Hyundai, the South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer, has a fascinating history that spans over half a century.
Founded in 1967 by Chung Ju-yung, the company initially focused on construction and engineering before venturing into automobile manufacturing in the late 1960s.
Hyundai's first car, the Cortina, was produced in cooperation with Ford Motor Company in 1968. However, it wasn't until 1975 that Hyundai launched its first self-developed car, the Pony, which was designed by Italdesign and featured an engine from Mitsubishi Motors.
The Pony marked a significant milestone for Hyundai and laid the foundation for the company's future success in the global automotive market.
Over the following decades, Hyundai continued to expand its operations and product lineup, introducing popular models such as the Excel, Sonata, and Elantra. The company also established a presence in key international markets, including the United States, where it faced initial challenges due to quality concerns but gradually improved its reputation through innovative design, advanced technology, and enhanced manufacturing processes.
Today, Hyundai is recognized as one of the world's leading automakers, known for its stylish, reliable, and value-oriented vehicles, as well as its commitment to sustainability and future mobility solutions.
