Humber Super Snipe | carmanualsdirect

Humber motor cars were a line of British luxury vehicles produced by the Humber Limited company from the late 19th century until 1976 when the brand was discontinued.

Founded in 1868 by Thomas Humber to manufacture bicycles, the company eventually expanded into automotive production, releasing their first car in 1898.

Humber established itself as a maker of stately, well-appointed automobiles known for their refined styling, spacious interiors, and smooth ride quality.

The large, imposing Humber cars were a favorite among British royalty and government officials. King George VI, Queen Elizabeth II, and Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill were all known to have owned Humbers.

Some of the most notable Humber models over the decades included the 16/50 "Snipe" from the 1930s, the postwar Super Snipe, the elegant 1950s Hawk series, and the final Humber model, the Sceptre, based on the Hillman Hunter.

At its peak, Humber was one of Britain's most respected premium automotive brands before economic factors led to its ultimate demise in the 1970s.
