The history of FIAT Tractors dates back to the early 20th century, when the Italian automobile manufacturer FIAT (Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino) expanded into the agricultural machinery sector.
In 1918, FIAT acquired the Italian agricultural equipment company Società Anonima Officine di Villar Perosa and began producing its first tractors. Over the following decades, FIAT Trattori, as the tractor division came to be known, established itself as a major player in the global tractor market.
The company introduced numerous innovative models that helped mechanize agriculture in Italy and beyond, such as the versatile FIAT 702 tractor in 1919 and the more powerful FIAT 700 in 1924.
As FIAT Trattori grew, it underwent various corporate changes, merging with New Holland in 1991 to form a subsidiary of Fiat Industrial S.p.A. before that entity was merged into CNH Industrial in 2013.
Throughout its history, FIAT Tractors developed a reputation for durable, reliable machines well-suited to the needs of farmers around the world.
