Isuzu, a prominent Japanese automotive manufacturer, has a history dating back over a century. The company was founded in 1916 under the name Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Co., Ltd., initially focusing on the production of trucks and diesel engines. 

In 1934, the company merged with DAT Automobile Manufacturing Inc. and was renamed Automobile Industries Co., Ltd. It wasn't until 1949 that the company adopted the now-familiar name of Isuzu Motors Limited, derived from the Isuzu River in Mie Prefecture, Japan.

Throughout the decades, Isuzu established itself as a major player in the commercial vehicle and diesel engine markets, known for its durable, reliable, and fuel-efficient products.

The company formed strategic partnerships and joint ventures with various automakers worldwide, such as General Motors, to expand its global presence and share technology.

Isuzu's expertise in diesel engines led to its engines being used in a wide range of applications beyond vehicles, including industrial equipment and power generation.

Today, Isuzu continues to innovate and adapt to changing market demands, focusing on developing advanced diesel technologies and exploring alternative fuel solutions to meet increasingly stringent emissions regulations while maintaining its reputation for producing tough, dependable vehicles.
