The VT series marked a new generation for Holden Special Vehicles, with HSV developing a range of high-performance models based on the redesigned VT Commodore platform. HSV vehicles featured numerous unique assemblies including revised body styling, performance-tuned suspension systems, upgraded engines and exhaust systems, specialised seating and distinctive interior fittings. These components were engineered specifically for HSV production vehicles and differ from those fitted to standard Holden Commodore models.
HSV Model Range
HSV produced several performance variants based on the VT platform, each designed to offer different levels of performance and equipment while maintaining the core HSV focus on handling, refinement and power.
• ClubSport
• GTS
• Senator
• Grange
• Manta
• Maloo utility
Each model incorporated HSV-specific mechanical and styling components, allowing the VT HSV range to deliver significantly enhanced performance and exclusivity compared with standard Commodore models.
HSV Engineering Differences
HSV VT vehicles incorporated a number of design and engineering changes beyond the standard Holden platform. These included HSV-developed suspension calibration, unique body components, revised exhaust systems and upgraded interior features. Many HSV mechanical assemblies and components differ from standard Holden vehicles, which is why HSV documentation supplements the standard Holden VT service information.
HSV Build Plate Identification
HSV vehicles can be identified by a dedicated HSV build plate located on the left-hand front strut tower in the engine compartment. This plate records important vehicle information including the model designation, build number, paint identification number and the production date of the vehicle. The build plate allows HSV vehicles to be clearly identified and provides important reference information when confirming vehicle specification.
